About Us

Hello! Monarch Meadows is the dream project of me, Sawyer R Sanders. I am a local of Greensburg, Indiana, and I was raised here, where the rolling hills meet the central plains. From a young age, I was lucky to have been exposed to the streams and woodlands of south-eastern Indiana, chasing frogs in the stream banks on my grandparents’ wooded farm. As I grew up, I realized that I felt a deep connection to the natural areas around me that I call home. When I graduated from high school, I decided that I wanted to pursue a degree in horticulture, so I could build on my passion for plants and ecology and pursue a career working outside. I graduated from Cincinnati State in the spring of 2024 with two Associate’s Degrees in Horticulture: Landscape Horticulture and Sustainable Horticulture A.B.S.
After my education and some time exploring different careers in the field, I felt that I needed a change. I was not satisfied with the work I was completing and felt that something was missing. One of the issues I consistently faced was a lack of care for the bigger picture with design: only valuing a quick aesthetic change in the landscape, completely ignoring the ecology and sustainability of these designs, and not to mention, the expense and labor involved. I decided that I wanted to be the change I wish to see in this world, even if at a small scale (for now). Therefore, I decided to create my own landscaping business from my garage. I’m confident in my professionalism and ability, and I hope to foster a working environment where ecology and professionalism go hand in hand to create projects you’ll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. From this humble start, I am excited to make an impact and create a greener, more beautiful tomorrow.
